What is Painting/ Artistic Work Copyright?

Artistic work” means— a painting, a sculpture, a drawing (including a diagram, map, chart or plan), an engraving or a photograph, whether or not any such work possesses artistic quality, a (work of architecture) and any other work of artistic craftsmanship.
Painting is an artistic work whether or not it possesses any artistic quality and For protection- a painting must be original and not a mere copy of another painting. The painting is not defined. However, painting without a surface is not painting. A painting must be on a surface of some kind.
